Professional Athletes and Free Golf

What is it about so many (not all) professional athletes and their perceived entitlement to free products and services, like golf?  I’m talking about well know athletes who are recognized when they walk through the front door.  We all know who they are.  Athletes that think they should get a free round of golf just because of recognition.  These are guys who make millions of dollars (mostly) in their contracts; and they can’t afford a $65 round of golf?   Does it really help our bottom line to give away free golf to these guys?  Most likely, not.  Why? Because they also expect a free round for the friends they bring with them.  So then, why do we do it?
