Girls Enjoy Free Golf in San Ramon

The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon was part of a national PGA of America marketing promotion called Take Your Daughter to the Course July 6-9. Girls under the age of 17 could play golf for free and their parents played for only $30. Girls also received complimentary range balls during the week.

I was a bit surprised to find out far fewer girls participated in the promotion this year versus previous years. The weather may have been a factor given that temperatures were far above 100 degrees. I’m also wondering if maybe we didn’t market the promotion as well as before.

Regardless, about 15 girls played golf and several more used the practice range. We also ran a free putting clinic and contest for the girls on Monday night. About 15 girls took part in the clinic and contest. The winner received an Adidas hat and a sleeve of golf balls. Each time a girl participated in the golf promotion she received a raffle ticket for an opportunity to take home a Titleist Carry Bag. At the end of the week we drew one lucky name. Hillary White was the lucky winner.

I’m sure we will participate in the promotion again in 2009. I’m always looking at what other golf offers might capture the attention of a young girl and her parents, in addition to the free golf, free range balls and free golf clinic.
