Relief for California Golfers on Tax Day

Golfers had an opportunity to get some needed relief from the “dreaded” tax day yesterday by playing golf at The Bridges Golf Club.  The Bridges offered a discounted green fee and lunch for golfers.  Many players who don’t normally play at The Bridges had a chance to get a round in on Wednesday.  More than 150 golfers took advantage of the special.  The Bridges is considering turning the tax day special into a tax week special next year.first-and-clubhouse-with-flowers-2-jay

Go Green with the Green Golfer Pledge at Northern Cal Golf Course

The Bridges Golf Club Gets Certified by Audubon International

The Bridges Golf Club Gets Certified by Audubon International

Today it’s all about being Green, Green, Green.  Businesses are going green, golf courses are going green and now golfers can go green, too.  What does that mean for you as a golfer to go green at the golf course?  We have our own ideas – repair ball marks and replace divots (good etiquette anyway), stay out of natural or environmentally sensitie areas on the course, follow cart path rules to protect the grass, purchase environmentally friendly products for the game.  What else can you do to be green?  Find out more by taking the Green Golfer Pledge at The Bridges Golf Club.  You, too, can accept responsibility to ensure that golf courses are managed in harmony with the environment.

Paint Explodes in Golf Cart

A Northern Cal PGA representative was marking the course for the Nationwide Qualifier at The Bridges and was accidentally rear-ended by another driver in a cart.  All the paint, which was sitting in the back of his cart, exploded covering the golf cart in red, yellow and blue paint.  Paint is also covering a six foot spot on the cart path and surrounding turf.  Fortunately, no one was injured.  The cart now looks like an elementary tie-die project gone awry.  I’m not sure if we’ll be able to hose off the paint or not.  If not, we’ll just have to live with one rainbow colored golf cart.

Professional Athletes and Free Golf

What is it about so many (not all) professional athletes and their perceived entitlement to free products and services, like golf?  I’m talking about well know athletes who are recognized when they walk through the front door.  We all know who they are.  Athletes that think they should get a free round of golf just because of recognition.  These are guys who make millions of dollars (mostly) in their contracts; and they can’t afford a $65 round of golf?   Does it really help our bottom line to give away free golf to these guys?  Most likely, not.  Why? Because they also expect a free round for the friends they bring with them.  So then, why do we do it?
